The domain restriction comes from the denominator of the fraction not being able to equal 0. So set this to zero and solve.
4x+1=0 Subtract 1 from both sides
4x=-1 Divide both sides by 4
x=-1/4 This value must be excluded from the domain.
Domain (-∞,-1/4) ∪ (-1/4,∞)
