Writing compound adjectives separated by a conjunction

I would like to shorten "foodborne and airborne diseases" to "food- and airborne" diseases but I'm not sure what the proper syntax would be.

Hi Laura, You are very close! In this case, you would say, "food and airborne diseases" with no dashes. Hope this helps. --Nadia
