You want to place a towel bar that is 10 ¹⁄₄ inches long in the center of a door that is 26 ¹⁄₃ inches wide. How far should you place the bar from each edge of the door?

26 1/3 divided by 2 = 13 1/6

10 1/4 divided by 2 = 5 1/8

13 1/6 minus 5 1/8 = 8 1/24

to get a better perspective round off, half of 26 = 13

half of 10 = 5. 13-5 = 8 inch

the margin is about 8 from each edge of the door, or more precisely 8 1/24 inches = about 8.04 inch margin on left and right edges
