a kilo = 1,000 grams

if 50 cherries weigh 100 grams, then 50x10 = 500 cherries weigh a kilogram

1,000 = 10 times 100

500 = 10 times 50

C/1,000 = 50/100 the ratio of cherries to weight is a constant. Solve for C

C/1,000 = 50/100 = 1/2

C = 1,000 x 1/2 = 500 cherries
