or did you mean to write x^2 -4x - 4? which equals (x-2)^2.
if so, then the area = [(x-2)^2]^2
or maybe you meant to write x^2-4x-4 = the area and what is the side?
if so, the side is the square root of x^2-4x-4, which equals x-2
