The Bird Store charges $4.74 for bird treats and $5.79 for bird toys. If Grace bought 8 things for a total of $43.17 at the store, how much of each product did she buy?

Let bird treats be x and bird toys be y.

Answer 1

x + y = 8

4.74x + 5.79y = 43.17

4.74x + 4.74y = 37.92

1.05y = 5.25

y = 5 bird toys

x= 3 bird treats
