Devin and her friend order lunch at a local sandwich shop. They each order a soft drink that costs $2.45. Devin orders a whole ham sandwich and her friend orders half of a ham sandwich. the answer in B does not have second drink, the one in C doesn't have second drinks and states 2 whole sandwhiches, D had 2 whole sandwhiches too so none of there were correct.

2($2.45)+c+0.5c=$13.90

4.90+1.5c=13.90

1.5c=$13.90-4.90

1.5c=$9

c=$6

we know that had two drinks at 2.45 each

 

so

 

their cost is two drinks, a sandwich and a half sandwich

 

now write that using the values and variables we defined

 

2(2.45) + C + .5C = 13.90
