I am adding 3 2/3 and 2 2/3 using fraction strips. How am I supposed to rename the fraction part of this problem?

3 2/3 = 11/3

2 2/3 = 8/3

11/3 + 8/3 = (11+8)/3 = 19/3 = 6 1/3

or sometimes you can work the problem in decimals

3 2/3 = 3.666...

2 2/3 = 2.666...

add them to get 6.333... = 6 1/3
