You can create two proportions based on the 4 sides:

You can reduce 72/96 to 36/48, then 18/24, then 9/12 and finally, 3/4

So we can rewrite the proportion as:

Cross-multiply and you get: 6*4 = 3*x so 24 = 3x

Divide by 3 on both sides and you get: 8 = x

Answer: x = 8
