Goran is a software salesman. Let y
represent his total pay (in dollars). Let x
represent the number of copies of Math is Fun he sells. Suppose that x
and y
are related by the equation =y+1900110x
.
Answer the questions below.Note that a change can be an increase or a decrease.
For an increase, use a positive number. For a decrease, use a negative number.
What is the change in Goran's total pay for each copy of Math is Fun he sells? |

Hello, Chasity,
As already noted, there seems to be a problem with the equation, as entered.
=y+1900110x is meaningless.
If we instead write: y = 1900110x; it is now an equation, but the 1900110 would have to be interpreted as Goran earns $1,900,110 for each book he sells. While I agree selling math books can be a challenge, I don't believe any salesman will earn over a million $ for each book they sell.
Check the equation and interpret it as follows. For illustration, let's say the equation is actually:
y = 3.50x
Then the answers to the questions would be:
1) His change in pay is $3.50 for every additional book sold.
2) His pay is $0 if he sells no books
