you could also solve it for x
2x = y+2
x = (y+2)/2 = y/2 + 1
x = y/2 + 1
there's an infinite number of solutions for x and y
if you graphed them, the solution would be (x,y) = (y/2 +1, y) or (x, 2x-2)
