Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
f(x) = 7/x - 8
has domain all real numbers except zero
(-infinity, 0) U (0, infinity)
UNLESS you really meant to write f(x) = 7/(x-8)
then the domain is all real numbers except 8
(- infinity, 8) U (8, infinity) in interval notation
you can't divide by 0
use parentheses, not brackets to indicate the endpoints are not included in the domain
f(x) is a rectangular hyperbola with a discontinuity where the denominator = 0. when x makes the denominator = 0, that's the value of x that is not in the domain.
