at 760 kph goes 2,000 km in still air
in the same time that it goes 1,800 km against the wind
d = rt
distance= rates of speed times time traveled
t = d/r
t = 2000/760 = about 2.63 hours
t = 1800/(684) = 2.63 hours
if you want x and y variables use y for time t, and x for speed against the wind, although you could assign x and y to other variables
1st equation 2000/760 = time = y
2nd equation 1800/x = time = y where x = speed against the wind
set the time equal y = y, 2000/760 = 1800/x
2000/760 = 1800/x
x = 1800(760)/2000 = 18(760)/20 = 9(76) = 684 = speed against the wind
wind speed = 760- 684 = 76 kph = wind speed
y = time = 2000/760 = about 2.63 hours = 1800/684
