Definitely need to see the picture in order to guarantee an answer, but here are some tips:
- Vertical angles are always congruent.
- If this is the sort of problem with one line being intersected by two others, then by definition of the word "line" any adjacent angles you see will sum to 180°.
- If the two lines intersecting the first are parallel, then any corresponding angles you find will be congruent, as will the alternate interior angles and the alternate exterior angles.
- If the two lines intersecting the first are parallel, then any consecutive interior angles will sum to 180°, as will the consecutive exterior angles.
- Your geometry book's glossary should contain the terms "vertical angles," "congruent," "intersect," "line," "adjacent angles," "parallel," "corresponding angles," "alternate interior angles," "alternate exterior angles," "consecutive interior angles," and "consecutive exterior angles" if any of these are unfamiliar.
If you can post a picture of the problem somewhere, please let me know and I'll try to give you a better answer. Good luck!
