The slope-intercept form of the equation of a line is: y = mx+b
where: m is the slope
b is the y-intercept (the point on the line where x=0)
slope, m=5
y-intercept = -1
equation: y = 5x - 1
The point (1,-2) is on that line if: (-2) = 5(1) - 1
Is the point on that line?
