Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
p= -3w + 9
add 3w -p to both sides to get
3w -p + p = 3w -p -3w + 9
3w = -p + 9
divide both sides by 3
w = -p/3 +3 or w = (-1/3)p + 3
whatever you do to the right side, do to the left side. It's treating them equally. It's an equation. where everyone is equal.
or another way to view this problem is: move any term from one side to the other, but change its sign
p = -3w + 9
move -3w to the left side
3w + p = 9
move p to the right side
3w = -p +9
then divide both sides by 3
3w/3 = -p/3 + 9/3
w = -p/3 + 3 or w = (-1/3)p + 3
