Write a linear function f with f(4)=−3 and f(0)=−2

I can figure it out but I know how to do it every answer I've gotten is wrong and I don't understand it.

The information given actually gives us 2 ordered pairs or sets of coordinates, if you couldn't pick that out....

So f(4) = -3 gives us (4, -3)

f(0) = -2 gives us (0, -2)

Find the Slope using the Slope formula.

(-2 - (-3))/(0 - 4)

(-2 + 3)/(-4)

1/-4 or just (-1/4) is the slope. m = -1/4

The 2nd ordered pair that was given is the y-intercept (0,-2), so b = -2.

y = mx+b

y = (-1/4)x -2

Use two-point form with

(4, -3) and (0, -2)

(y + 3) / (x - 4) = (-2 + 3) / (0 - 4)
