Well suppose the numbers are x, x+1, x+2
Sum is x + x+1 + x+2 = 3x+3
smallest multiplied by 4 is 4x
So 4x = 3x+3. x = 3, so the numbers are 3, 4, 5. 5+4+3 = 12 = 4 x 3
