2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22 ... if it's an arithmetic sequence with common denominator d = 4
an = a1 + d(n-1)
a3 = a1 + 4(2) = 2+8 = 10
2, 6, 18, 54, 162, ... if it's a geometric sequence with common ratio, r = 3
an = a1(r)^(n-1)
a3 = 2(3)^2 = 2(9)= 18
or if it's not arithmetic or geometric, the next term could be virtually anything
