Hi Jaelyn,
Your equation seems to be 13= g/3 +4 and not 13= g/ (3+4) as understood by Marissa.
If we rearrange it, g/3= 13-4=9 and hence g=9x3 =27

Hi Jaeyln,
To solve this equation, you want to get the variable g alone by itself on one side of the equation. To do this...
1. Add the denominator 3+4, which is 7. Now you have 13 = g/7
2. Now you can multiply both sides of the equation by 7. So, g *7 /7 is the same as g *1. And we know that anything times 1 is itself! So, this gets g by itself. Now you have 13 * 7 = g.
3. You can figure it from here! Just finish solving for g by multiplying 13 *7.
You did it!

With 2-step equations you always want to do reverse PEMDAS ( order of operations). What does it mean? You just want to start with an operation that is the "farthest" from the variable (letter). And we will do addition and subtraction before multiplication and division.
So here we go:
13= g/3+4
Ok so we want to leave "g" alone and figure out what "g" equals to:
First subtract 4 on both sides. Remember whatever you do on one side you have to do the same to the other.
13=g/3 +4
-4 -4
then: 9=g/3
we do the opposite of division..... multiplication:
9*3=(g/3)*3
27=g or g=27 :) that's your answer
