A quadratic function, f(x) = 3x^2 -7x + 11,
what is 5f(-3)?
just replace x by -3 wherever x appears, to find f(-3)
f(-3) = 3(-3)^2 -7(-3) + 11
= 3(9) +21 +11
=27 +32
= 59
multiply f(-3) by 5 to find 5f(-3)
5f(-3) = 5(59) = 295
5f(-3) = 295
the quadratic function f(x) is graphically an upward opening parabola, with vertex and minimum point about (1.2, 6.9) or (1,7) or exactly (7/6, 83/12, with y intercept 11. f(-3) has y value 59 or the point (-3,59) 5f(-3) is the point (-3, 295)
