here is one way to simplify the equation in order to solve for x:
4(2/5x + 7) =-8 - 4/5x
take the 4 in the left side of the equation and multiply it out
8/5x + 28 = -8 - 4/5x
multiply each side by 5 to simplify the equation (eliminate the 5 in the denominator)
8/x + 140 = -40 - 4/x
rearrange the equation so all 'x' variables are on one side
8/x + 4/x +140 = -40
subtract 140 from both sides of the equation
8/x + 4/x = -180
multiply both sides of the equation by 'x'
8 + 4 = -180x
simplify the left side of the equation
12 = -180x
divide both sides by -180
12/-180 = x
x = -1/15
