It's not entirely clear what you mean. I'm going to assume you want to find ∂f/∂y for the function f(x,y). When you take the partial derivative with respect to y, you hold x constant (i.e. treat it just like a constant):

f_y = 0 - 6xy +4x - 6y + 0 Note that ∂/∂y (x²) = 0
