- Compute the volume of one sphere. Look the formula up on-line or in your text book. Note, the radius = 1/2 of the diameter.
- Compute the volume of one cone. Again, look the formula up on-line or in your text book.
- Take the ratio: (volume of sphere) / (volume of cone). That'll tell you how many cones you can make with one sphere. Since you have seven spheres, multiply the ratio by seven. That'll tell you how many cones you can make with seven spheres. Round down to the nearest whole number since we can't make a cone with only a fraction of the material.

I have seven big solid metal in my backyard that I use as garden ornaments.
I want to change one which is 12” in diameter by melting it down into some smaller cones
to use as decorations along a walkway, but I’m not sure how many it will make. My cone mold is 6” in diameter at the base, and 9” tall.
Is there a way to figure out how many I can make? If so, how many?
Show your work and include all of your calculations, and any formulas you used to figure it out.
