the two points have the same x coordinate. The line through them must have the same x coordinate. x=8 is the only line that does that. A vertical line, which always has the same x value, and includes any y value.
Or if you want to use the slope intercept equation, y=mx+b plug in the two points to get two equations
(8,0), (8,-5)
0=m(8) + b and
-5 = m(8) + b
giving you
b =-8m
and
b= -8m - 5
which leads to
0=-5 an impossibilty for the y intercept.
in other words, there is no y intercept. the only way that happens is with a vertical line, x= some constant not 0.
x=8 is the only solution
