Standard form is Ax + By = C
In general, the A (the number on the x) needs to be positive and all the numbers need to be integers (not fractions)
#1 y = 4/3x + 7
To get rid of the fraction, multiply everything by 3. This cancels the 3 in the 4/3 and leaves only 4
3y = 4x + 21
subtract 4x. We want x and y on the same side
-4x + 3y = 21
Since A is -4 right now and we want it to be positive, let’s flip the signs of all our numbers
4x - 3y = -21 standard form
#2
y = 5/2x - 2 multiply everything by 2 to cancel the fraction
2y = 5x-4 subtract 5x from both sides
-5x + 2y = -4
Since A = -5 flip all the signs
5x - 2y = 4 standard form
