Here is a similar example to show the steps to solving a problem like this.
Four times the sum of a number and 3
Step 1: the sum of a number and 3 would be written as x+3
Step 2: "four times" means you are multiplying the whole expression by 4. So it would be 4(entire equation)
So in this case the final answer would be 4(x+3)
