help with math, work

a bucket of raffle tickets was distrubited evenly to 48 people if each person got 4 tickets how many tickets were in the bucket

So, if 48 people each get 4 tickets, you could add 4 + 4 + 4 + 4.... 48 times to find out how many tickets there were total. A much easier way would be to take 48 and multiply it by how many tickets they each got (which is 4 tickets).
