Help with math problem

Question

There is "x" and "y" and they have 115 dollars together. And "x" got 45 dollars more then "y". How many dollars do "x" and "y" have.

How do you solve it?

What we know:. Need to find out:

X + Y = $115. Value to X

X have $45 more than Y. Value to Y

X+Y=115

So we subtract the total from the 45 to find out X

115 70(X)+ 45(Y)=115(T)
