Hey Michael!
If you recognize (5, k) as the X and Y coordinates in the problem, you can substitute these values for "X" and "Y" in the equation:
Original Equation: 2y + 3x = 7
Substitute Values: 2(k) + 3 (5) = 7
Multiplication: 2k + 15 = 7
Subtract 15 from both sides: 2k = -8
Dive both sides of the equation by 2: k = -4
