Question

The point (0, 4) is on the original function, y = f(x). Find the corresponding point on

the transformed function y = 3f(x + 4) − 5.

The point (−4, 7) is on the transformed function y = 3f(x + 4) − 5. Find the point on

the original function, y = f(x).

(0,4) with f(x) transformed to 3f(x+4)-5

is horizontally shifted left 4

stretched by factor of 3

and shifted down by 5

(0,4) to the left 4 becomes (-4,4)

stretched by 3 becomes (-4, 12)

shifted down 5 is (-4,7)

(-4,7) on the transformed function

is (0,4) on the original function
