Asparagine is a polar amino acid
- Hydrogen bonds occurs to Hs attached to an electronegative atom (N, O or F)
- Structure appears to have 1 N with 1 lone pair, 2 Os with 2 lone pairs and 1 O with 3 lone pairs
- Each lone pair is capable of accepting 1 H-bonds; hence it can accept 8 H bonds
- For the Hs attached to N or O; the total of number of Hs is 5 Hs
- 5 Hs attached to N can do H-bond
