(T - A)(d) = T(d) - A(d), where T(d) and A(d) are simply price values. Therefore, this notation represents the gas price difference of Tucson on a particular day and Albuquerque on the same day.

A1) If the result is positive, then the price in Tucson is greater than the amount being subtracted from Albuquerque.

(e.g., 3 - 2 = +1)

A2) If the result is negative, then the price being subtracted from Albuquerque is greater than the price in Tucson.

(e.g., 2 - 3 = -1)

A3) If the result is zero, then the prices from both cities is equal, and the difference is zero.
