I'm having trouble figuring it out in in 7th grade doing 8th math please please please help

Yes. Solve the equation for Y and you'll see that the equation is in normal form y=mx + b.

 

4x-2y=-8

-2y=-8-4x

 

divide through by -2 to isolate y

y = 4 +2x

 

slope is 2, y intercept (b) is 4

Yes, 4x-2y = -8 is linear. You can tell because x and y are both to the first power.

 

Any function with x and y both to the first power is linear, and they can all be put in slope-intercept form.

 

For this one, add 2y + 8 to both sides to get 4x + 8 = 2y. Now switch sides and divide by two and you have y = 2x + 4, a line of slope m = 2 with a y-intercept at x = 4.
