Which of the following ordered pairs is a solution to the equation y = 4x?

For the equation y = 4x, order pairs can be found by inputting the x value and calculating the y value.
4x means 4 times x.
If you have the ordered pair (x, y) that is (2, 8), you are using x =2 and checking to see if y = 8. Since 4 times 2 = 8 then the ordered pair (2, 8) is an ordered pair that satisfies the equation y = 4x.
If you have the ordered pair, (3, 10), you are checking 4 times 3. The result is 12. Since the ordered pair has y = 10 instead of y = 12, it (3, 10) then (3, 10) does not represent an ordered pair solution.

The ordered pair that is the solution is the one that makes the equatiopn true (that's the definition of a solution).
