You didn't give the list of ordered pairs, but the basic approach is to substitute the x and y values from the ordered pair into the equation. If the equality is true/valid, the ordered pair is a solution.
For example, if the ordered pair is (4,2), you would substitute 4 for x and 2 for y in the equation:
y=4x
2=4(4)
2=16
...which is obviously false, so (4,2) is not a solution.
