If x is your age now, then 3 years ago it was x-3. Five years from now it is x+5
So eight times your age 3 years ago = 8(x-3)
Four times your age 5 years from now = 4(x+5)
Since they're the same,
8(x-3) = 4(x+5)
This reduces to 4x = 44 so x (your age now) is 11
