100 in hex is 16^2 in base 10

111 in bi = 2^2+2^1+2^0 = 4+2+1 = 7 in base 10

111 in hex = 16^2 +16+1 = 256+16+1 = 273 in base 10

as base 10 is most familiar and intuitive to work with,

you might try converting base 2 to base 10, and then covert that base 10 to base 16

1111 in bi = 2^3+2^2+2+1 = 15 in base 10

1111 in hex = 16^3+273 in base 10
