Two torpedoes 3450 km apart, are launched at the same time and are headed towards each other. They collide after 2 hours. The average speed of one torpedo is twice that of the other. What is the average speed of each torpedo?

let s = the speed of the slower torpedo, and 2s = speed of the faster torpedo

2s + 2(2s) = 3450 (speed times time = distance. 2 hours times s + 2 hours times 2s= distance)

6s = 3450

s = 575 km/h

2s = 1150 km/h
