d =2(r+2r) = 2(3r) = 6r
r = d/6 = 3450/6 = 575 km per hour = speed of the slower torpedo
2r = 1150 km per hour = speed of the faster torpedo
in 2 hours the slower torpedo travels 2 x 575 = 1150 km
in 2 hours the faster torpedo travels 2 x 1150 = 2300 km
1150 + 2300 = 3450 km
