Confucianism is about the Five Relationships and the Rectification of Names and Rites. Confucianism also believes that people are inherently good, and will seek to do good if proper examples are set by their "betters"--especially the Superior Man imagined in Confucianism
The model relationship is that of Father to Son. This sets the tone for most of the other of the Five Relations--Ruler to Subject, Father to Son, Husband to Wife, Older Brother to Younger Brother, and Friend to Friend. Only the last has some measure of equality. When Rulers are Rulers, and Sons are Sons--all will be good Under Heaven (in a kingdom).
Rites (which include religious and public activities) must be preformed with economy and in keeping with the old ways--never extravagant or changes made for show. The Chinese often brought foreign peoples and outsides to court so the outsiders could see the civilizing rituals of China and proper relations. The study of Confucianism also ensured literate administrators who shared a common worldview.
