In order for a point to satisfy the equation y = -499, its y-coordinate must equal -499. This means that x can equal any value as long as y equals -499 (if you graph this, it looks like a horizontal line that crosses the y-axis at y = -499). Thus, the point (-550, -499) satisfies the equation y = -499.
