Linear Inequality

Question

The sum of the lengths of any rwo sides of a triangle must be greater than the third side. if a triangle has one side that is 11cm and a second side that is 1cm less than twice the third side, what are the possible lengths for the second and third sides linear inequalities

one side:11

second side: 2x -1

third side: x

2x -1 -x < 11< 2x -1 +x

x-1 < 11 < 3x - 1

x < 12 < 3x; x< 12 or 12<3x and 4<x so

4 < x< 12..... for third side;

if 4 < x< 12, then

8 < 2x < 24

7 < 2x -1 < 23......for second side
