4P + 2S = 23
2P + 2S =12 subtract 2nd equation from 1st
2P = 11 divide by 2
P = 11/2 = $5.50 for a pizza
2S = 12-2P divide by 2
S = 6-P = 6-5.5 = $.50 = 50 cents for a soda
