Can someone please help me with this Geometry problem? I’m really struggling with this one.

Question

Find the distance, in units, from point A (3, 7) to the line x = 9.

Can someone please help me with this? I’m not sure how to do this.

distance = 6

9-3 = 6

it's the difference in x values

try sketching it. Plot the point and line. IF you look at the graph, even a rough sketch, it will be more obvious.

The line is vertical, so the shortest distance from the point to the line is the difference in the x coordinate of the point and the x value of the line.
