6x^2 + 8x -2 divided by 3x + 1
= 2x + 2 with remainder of -4
IF this had been 6x^2 +8x +2 divided by 3x+1, it would have come out even with no remainder
= 2x+2. possibly, that was the original problem, before a mistake in copying the sign of the constant term. Maybe.
