Mr. Swanson needs to move a 350-pound refrigerator. He has no dolly, so he gets his son to help balance the refrigerator while he slides a 6-foot board under it and uses a block as a fulcrum. (This enables him to get a rug under the refrigerator on which it will slide.) If the fulcrum is 18 inches from the end of the board, how much force is needed to raise the refrigerator?

18" = 1.5' and 6-1.5' = 4.5'

4.5x = 350(1.5')

x = 350(1.5)/(4.5) = 350/3 = 116 2/3
