Jake Zablowski has a collection of coins worth $96.07. He has five times as many 50-cent pieces as he has silver dollars. The number of dimes is twice the number of 50-cent pieces. There are seven more than 3 times as many pennies as dimes. How many of each kind of coin does he have?

Twice as many dimes as half dollars.

7 more than 3 times as many pennies as dimes.

Know nothing about the silver dollars.

y is the # of silver dollars.

silver dollars = y

half dollars = 5y

dimes = 2*half dollars = 10y

pennies = 3*dimes+7 = 3(10y)+7 = 30y+7

In pennies:

100y + 50(5y) + 10(10y) + (30y+7) = 9607

100y + 250y + 100y + 30y + 7 = 9607

480y +7 = 9607

480y = 9600

y = 20

20 silver dollars = $20

100 half dollars = $50

200 dimes = $20

607 pennies = $ 6.07
