3.5% = 0.035, just move the decimal point two digits to the left
3000(1.035) = (1035)(3) = the new salary = old salary plus 3.5% of the old salary
= 3105 = $3,105 per month
3.5% of 3000 = $105 add that to the original salary
3000+105 = $3105
10% of 3000 is 300
1% of 3000 is 30
0.5% of 3000 is 15
3% of 3000 is 90
3.5% = 3% + 0.5% = 90 + 15 = 105
just plug the numbers into a calculator or do long hand multiplication
old salary = 1 x 3000
raise = .035 x 3000
new salary = (1 x 3000) + (0.035 x 3000)
factor out the 3000
new salary = (1+0.035) x 3000
= (1.035)(3000)
move the decimal in the 1.035 3 decimals to the right and move the decimal in 3000 3 to the left
=1035(3)
=3105
