Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
-5x + 9
not sure what the problem is
some possibilities are
y =-5x +9, with slope =-5, y intercept = 9
find the x intercept = -9/5 = -1.8
-5x + 9=0
x = 9/5 = 1.8
or plug in some values for x and solve for -5x+9
such as x =1, then -5+9 = 4
x=2 -5(2)+9=-1
x=-1, -5(-1)+9 = 19
graph it, it's a straight line, plot the two intercepts connect them with a line
extend the line in both directions forever. You can't so you put little arrows at
the ends of the line, pointing forever both ways
or describe it, a binomial, linear, two terms, one linear the other constant
rewrite as -5x^1 + 9x^0 to make explicit the degree of the terms
it's a 1st degree function or polynomial
